The WROAR Ride is pleased to announce our Special Guest at the Toronto International Spring Motorcycle Show: Motorcycle Racer and RACE Pro 125 GP Champion Angela Hiba. The Toronto International Spring Motorcycle Show is April 16 and 17 2005 at the Toronto International Centre, and Ms Hiba will be signing autographs in the WROAR Ride booth in Hall 2 all day Satuday and Sunday morning. In 2004 Angela Hiba claimed the #1 plate in Canadian 125 GP racing, with the RACE Pro 125 GP Championship win, and finished 3rd in the Can-Am Championship – a North America wide series. Now retired from racing, Ms Hiba has directed some of her enormous energy to the WROAR Ride planning committee; a group of women professionals from the motorcycle industry, racers, riding instructors and motorcyclists all. The goal of the WROAR Ride is to raise funds for the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape as well as raise awareness about issues of sexual violence. The image of a woman on her motorcycle conveys an impression of freedom, independence and strength that many women value, even those who don't ride. It provides a startling contrast to the loss of freedom and control associated with sexual violence. We believe the WROAR Ride will promote a positive, powerful image of women in control of our vehicles and our lives. The Toronto Rape Crisis Centre has a thirty-one year history of providing 24-hour confidential crisis counseling for survivors of sexual violence, as well as educational programs, and other services, supported by the grass roots fundraising efforts of women like the 'WROAR Riders'.
