THE SECOND ANNUAL WROAR RIDE

The countdown has begun for the second annual WROAR Ride to raise funds for the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape, and to focus attention on the issue of violence against women.
The image of a woman on her motorcycle conveys an impression of freedom, independence and strength - a startling contrast to the frightened, helpless victim of violence. While the WROAR Ride is an all-women's motorcycle event, we encourage men to get involved. We ask them to help challenge gender stereotypes and promote a positive image of women in control by riding as a passenger. Please join us. There will be DJs and informational demonstrations for motorcyclists and, for a small donation, licensed motorcyclists, who bring appropriate riding gear, will be able to test-ride the newest offerings from Honda.
Top fundraisers can win rider-training courses from the Rider Training Institute (RTI) and the Canadian Motorcycle Training Services Inc. (CMTS), or leather jackets from Honda and Harley- Davidson of Toronto. Raffle prizes include great riding gear, motorcycle luggage, fitness-club memberships, gift baskets and more.
Last year's WROAR Ride raised more than $8,500. We’d like to double that amount this year. The Toronto Rape Crisis Centre has a 32-year history of community-based volunteer help for those who have experienced sexual violence. The centre provides 24-hour confidential crisis counselling, as well as educational programs and other services.
